Role and Responsibilities of the Working Shop Foreman:
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for supporting the day-to-day on the shop floor and/or field operations in the Branch. Provides supervision and leadership to technicians engaged in maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations to maximize productivity and efficiency and ensure customer service needs are met. Assists Service Manager and other service departments as required to build an efficient and effective team.
Fosters a workplace culture of safety, with appropriate leadership; continually promotes health and safety awareness with instruction, information, training and supervision to ensure the safe performance of employees.
•Responsible for the supervision of a team of employees; this includes coaching, mentoring, scheduling, attendance, conflict resolution, learning and development.
•Oversee the day to day running of the shop and keep the flow of work constant.
•Answer any questions posed by technicians.
•Assist technicians with troubleshooting.
•Organize and schedule labour in the workshop.
•Train apprentices in proper work procedures.
Coordination of Work
•Maintain online communication with manufactures.
•Check and enter cases, as required.
•Assist with the retrieval of customer information in order to facilitate the repairs.
•Determine the level of rebuild required, from the condition of the machine and from the customer’s description.
•Process and receive units as necessary for repairs.
•Verify the level of quality on completed projects by the technicians.
•Create quotes for the repairs needed.
•Dispatch and/or collaborate with dispatch/service manager to ensure field repair work is scheduled.
•Ensure that warranties are researched to determine if the Manufacturer still has responsibility.
•Organize for outside contractors as necessary.
•Ensure that Pre-Delivery Inspections are completed.
Skills and Qualifications:
•Education: Trades Certification
•Work Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience. 1-3 years of solid people management/leadership
•Knowledge: Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office.
•Proven ability to work effectively with customers and others
