The UAB Multiple Sclerosis Center sees approximately 3,000 patients per year and offers a remarkable breadth of services and commitment to care for people with MS and related disorders. As part of an elite nationwide group designated by the National MS Society as a Comprehensive Center for MS Care, the UAB MS Center offers patients a specialized and multidisciplinary approach to MS care.
Through the extensive services available at UAB, we are able to uniquely provide quality, comprehensive care to address the complex and varied needs of patients with MS from childhood through adulthood. It is truly an exciting time at the UAB MS Center, as we provide tangible solutions for people living with MS today, as well as engage in new and promising efforts toward identifying treatments to impact and ultimately stop this disease.
We are currently looking for an experienced RN to serve as a Clinical Coordinator for MS and neuro-immunology patients and the clinical team. This key position will assess, monitor, and manage patient care and patient flow for the UAB Medicine by providing education and support for the patients and families, coordinating patient care within a multidisciplinary setting, monitoring the health care pathways process, and serving as a consistent point of contact for patients and healthcare providers within the MS clinical area. The position may also provide internal oversight for clinic processes and staff, as well as external community outreach through support groups, educational meetings and health fairs, etc.
Duties also include, but are not limited to: communication with patients via phone or portal regarding results, symptoms, and relevant concerns; phone prescriptions in to the pharmacy when needed; order/schedule medical tests; obtain prior authorization when needed; assist physicians with all aspects of the MS Clinic including assisting with occasional procedures. Occasional administration of IM or subcutaneous medications in clinic. Displays good rapport and professionalism with all patients and staff. Practices within the scope of the RN licensure.
Required: BSN Degree from an accredited school of professional nursing. 3 years clinical nursing experience. Demonstrates competencies for basic computer skills, which includes MS Word, Outlook, and electronic EHR.
Preferred: 5 years of nursing experience
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Required: Current AL RN license. Current CPR certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
