Develops relationships between the AOC and the hospitals in the regional service area. Acts as a first responder to potential organ donor referrals, conducts initial telephonic assessment of donor suitability and responds on-site at hospital within specified time frame as appropriate.  Adheres to all national, state and local regulations/statutes while making the request for donation.  Identifies and supports needs of potential donor family and approaches them with opportunity of organ/tissue donation as appropriate.  Enters computerized donor referral and donor record into AOC data system. Provides on-going donor family support and follow-up. Provides education to hospital staff and physicians related to organ and tissue donation to include policies and the state, federal and Joint Commission standards that impact donation.  Routinely collects, analyzes and distributes referral data to assigned hospitals.  Educates the public on the importance of organ and tissue donation.  Presents information and outcomes in formal and informal setting (public speaking).  Displays good rapport and professionalism with all clients and audiences.  Works flexible hours with call responsibilities, and responds to calls in a timely manner according to AOC policy.


Required: Degree / license / certification in healthcare field.  May consider Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or other counseling field.  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications required.  Two or more years of experience in the organ donation work system may substitute for degree / license/certification in healthcare field.  

Preferred: Master’s Degree with hospital, crisis intervention or grief support experience preferred.
Public speaking experience a benefit.


Required: Current Degree / license / certification in field of expertise. Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
