We are currently seeking a Sr. Payroll Associate to act as the payroll subject matter expert while performing all required duties necessary to prepare, process and audit payrolls. Validates E-Time data, reduces gross pay by all authorized and required deductions to net pay. Assists in management of overall payroll responsibilities for processing pay in an accurate and efficient fashion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Acts as subject matter expert in all payroll processes, conducting various training to Payroll Associates, business partners and other internal/external associates.
Investigates questionable data from customers and takes corrective action, when necessary. Assists team members, timekeepers, managers/supervisors in answering/resolving payroll related questions or problems. Brings questions/concerns to the attention of Payroll Management for clarification/resolution.
Process and transmit payrolls. Ensure that reconciliations are balanced and completed, as required.
Manages repayment process with Team Members when there is an overpayment.
Continuous creation of audit/standardization with the entire team.
Acts as back up for Payroll Management in his/her absence. Seeks guidance in making decisions in approval of manual checks.
Performs miscellaneous duties/projects as required or requested. Those include, but are not limited to:
• Assists in distributing paychecks/earnings statements to department managers or supervisor and mails external team member paychecks/earnings as applicable.
• Coordinates repayment of team member overpays once overpayment letter is received.
• Prepare and balance payroll runs per compliance requirements, as required.
• Handles and analyzes the referrals bonus requests submitted.
Education and Experience Required (including certifications and/or software requirements for the position):
Education equivalent to an Associates Degree, supplemented by courses in mathematics, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating excellent mathematical skills. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Five or more years of payroll related experience, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating sound knowledge of federal and multiple state payroll tax laws.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of general Payroll policies and procedures. Provides input to the development and communication of Payroll policies and procedures.
Possesses FPF and/or CPP preferred, but not required.
Demonstrates general knowledge of one or more automated Payroll systems. Knowledge of ADP required.
Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrates the ability to bring recurring issues to manager/supervisor’s attention and assist in resolving problems.
