Position Description:
We are currently seeking an Emergency Response Specialist to respond to telephonic reports of a wide variety of national and local environmental emergencies. 

This position is a remote opportunity.  Able to work from any city and state within reason. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate, engage, and dispatch appropriate response teams to emergency site in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and company policies, practices and procedures

Receives and documents telephonic notification from customer requesting resolution of an environmental emergency

Evaluates emergency situation as to type, severity and scope based on details provided by caller describing the type of environmental situation such as gasoline flowing into water supply or waste pickup and assigns an emergency response team

Engages emergency response vendor team, negotiating pricing and estimated time to arrive and complete assignment to ensure quickest response at the best price for the customer and the company

Telephonically or Responds and monitors activities of responding vendors and continuously communicates with customer until emergency response situation is satisfactorily completed, including appropriate disposal of waste

Assigns additional resources based on feedback from site during emergency clean up activities

Initiates and completes appropriate documentation including Initial Spill Reports, reviewing manifests for inaccuracies and evaluating Department of Transportation (DOT) proper shipping names and assigning EPA waste codes; enters relevant data into appropriate spreadsheets, and completes a Service Order in the RSS System with accompanying paperwork

Provides input to management regarding the performance of the responders and participates in regular vendor evaluation process and vendor audits. Performs other duties as assigned

Responds and acts as lead on high risk projects

Manages ER procedures and policies to meet customers expectations

Manages and negotiates with subcontractors to support high volume periods

Sets up and manage jobs within the PSC database to track and document activities

Responsible for hiring and personal management of labor force to respond to responses

Position Requirements:
JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:

At least 2 or more years working with environmental waste regulations and materials

DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Fundamental knowledge of industrial chemical compatibility and reaction Developed understanding of environmental regulations and Well developed organization abilities

Well developed ability to prioritize work based on assessment of severity of each situation

Ability to make judgments and decisions to determine response levels

Well developed verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access

Ability to learn technical information quickly

Initiative and ability to work without supervision from home office

Well developed sense of urgency

Well developed interpersonal communication skills

Knowledge of United States geography, i.e. names and locations of cities within states and state borders and proximity to other states

Well developed attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work from home, office or at customer site

On Call 24/7 shifts

Due to emergency or work load demands, subject to extended work hours requiring stamina beyond normal demands or levels
