Direct all tax functions of the Corporation and its affiliates. This includes all tax planning, research and compliance for the Corporation, both domestic and international, in an effort to minimize the tax burden of the Company. Monitor international treasury functions to ensure that the movement of significant amounts of cash is done in the most tax effective manner. Develop and implement appropriate international and domestic tax planning initiatives and recommendations to place the Company in the most effective tax posture. These recommendations should be made to the appropriate managers and departments, and upon approval, be responsible whenever possible, for the implementation and follow through of these recommendations. Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient staff:
•Makes every reasonable effort to select, train, and develop qualified, diverse workforce.
•Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals.
•Recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals.
•Monitors operations and staff and recommends, when necessary, changes in methods, procedures, structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources.
•Counsels employees on educational and job opportunities, which will enhance their career development, and keeps staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and company by conducting periodic meetings.
•Administers all Company policies and procedures, communicates to staff, interprets, as necessary, and ensures compliance and safety.
•Monitors and ensures that employees are performing their functions safely and productively. Makes recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accident or injuries.
•Monitors department work productivity, reports on trends, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity.
•Develops subordinate managers and/or supervisors, particularly in the management techniques of planning, organizing, leading and controlling through continue coaching and feedback on performance. Direct the tax compliance activities to meet all external return filing due dates as mandated by the various governmental entities in a way that is most conducive to the available human resources in the tax department. Provide sufficient support and backup to the members of the department whenever necessary. Provide the controller’s department with the tax accounting, and details when necessary, to close the accounting books. Provide the tax accounting details and necessary information to the outside accounting firm in the year-end closing. Provide the necessary tax information to controller’s department to enable him to complete the various financial forecasts and outlooks. Manage all tax examinations by external governmental auditors and resolve the tax issues in the most cost-effective manner. Determine which issues cannot be promptly resolved and, with the help of the law department, appeal those issues to the appropriate level of the respective government agency. Become involved in acquisitions and corporate structuring to create the most tax efficient transaction for the company. Develop and monitor transfer pricing policies between the company and its foreign subsidiaries. Monitor and determine the appropriate structuring and documentation on the movement of significant amounts of cash between the company and its foreign subsidiaries. Complete special assignments as required. Review current property tax assessments to ensure that they are fair and accurate and, in conjunction with the law department, appeal the assessments when it is appropriate. Keep current with new tax laws, regulations and positions taken by the major taxing authorities, determine their effect on the company and advise management of any major impacts. Be involved with industry groups to keep abreast of recent tax developments and concerns. Maintain effective working relationships with other departments. Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures. Provide tax advice to all corporate departments and locations as appropriate. Be involved with the continuous improvement efforts throughout the company.
•Education equivalent to Bachelor degree in Accounting, or other related field, or the equivalent in related work experience demonstrating knowledge of domestic and international tax policies and procedures.
•CPA Designation a plus.
•Eight or more years of International and Domestic tax experience required, including three or more years of tax management experience.
