StandardAero Configuration Control department manages site information, instructions and records in support of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of flight gas turbine engines. The Configuration Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining and managing electronic manuals, processing new and updated ISO Documents and updating electronic control systems within our internally developed SA menu application suite. . The configuration control specialist works with quality, engineering and other business units to effectively manage the communication between the customer and the shop technicians. The Configuration Control Specialist plays an integral role in deployment of company processes, and will manage document reviews, and occasionally train business unit staff as part of policy deployment.
> Reviews new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical documents and defines impact to: applicable overhaul manuals, service bulletins, parts lists, Bill of Materials (BOM), BOM-Cross reference, alternate part master file, and Unit Build Standards (UBS).
> Processes ISO documents for review and approval. Once approved, places the new document in the applicable network location, and archives prior versions.
> Manages and communicates review timelines from supporting departments, reports on any timelines that are exceeded and requests review extensions if required.
> Maintains web based intranet page that provides access to controlled documents.
> Provides applicable Measures of Performance (MOPs) related to technical configuration documentation to the Director, Engineering (SBU) and/or the Director, Quality Improvement (SBU).
> Maintains accountability for the SBU format of bill of materials (BOM) and all subsequent changes.
> Resolves minor changes to UBS and initiates major changes for engineering approval.
> Responsible for maintaining the central electronic filing system for technical documentation and engineering reports within the business unit.
> Meets with Configuration Control Specialists from other business units to facilitate and develop a consistent corporate vision of configuration control.
> Provides training and guidance to business unit staff regarding all areas of technical documentation.
> Maintains and distributes documentation system training packages for the business unit.
> Carries out special projects as assigned.
> Strong computer skills, including a comprehensive knowledge of MS Word, Access and Excel. Knowledge of basic computer programming & other computer skills beneficial to the position, though not required.
> Strong organizational, analytical, decision making, leadership, interpersonal, planning, oral and written communication skills.
> Thorough knowledge of records management and documentation control.
> Thorough knowledge of company instructions, company processes, unit build standards, temporary overhaul data revisions, temporary parts list revisions, and original equipment manufacturer's manuals.
> Obtain a thorough knowledge of the Standard Aero electronic system and process flows.
> College or technical diploma, or experience in managing electronic documents. College diploma in a field of engineering technology; or an equivalent of one or more years of experience in a role associated with technical documentation control or Configuration Management.
> Must be authorized to work in the US.
