Santee Cooper is seeking a Full-Time Pre-Award Grants Proposal Coordinator and Writer, which entails being an experienced grant writer and with current skills and ability to seek and identify various grant opportunities that match funding requirements for operational managers within the System as well as matching various strategic initiatives for Santee Cooper. This individual will be tasked with having an up-to-date knowledge of the Santee Cooper short-term and long-term strategic plan, identification of various funding opportunities available to Santee Cooper that fit within the compliance culture, strategic and business plan, and meet current funding needs.
Essential JobTasks: Identifies grant opportunities to include: a) Seek new avenues for funding – public and private. b) Collaborates with outside entities to detect grant funding opportunities to meet the needs of Santee Cooper. c) Secures federal, state, local and private grants to support Santee Cooper projects in line with the overall corporate strategy. d) Works closely with operational staff within Santee Cooper to identify and match funding needs with current or planned projects. e) Works closely with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals.Draft grant proposals and projects which will include: a) Assists with the preparation of proposals and grant applications. b) Writes, submits, and manages coherent, organized, and compelling proposals. c) Edits grants as needed. d) Increases Santee Cooper’s grant writing capacity.Monitors grant applications and requirements: a) Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders regarding grant applications. b) Keeps abreast and notify leadership of changing state, federal and private foundation grant standards, and proposal guidelines. c) Holds meetings with appropriate colleagues to gather information necessary to fully understand a project or program in where funding is being sought.
A Bachelor of Arts degree + 5 years experience as a primary grant writer and editor in federal, state, and/or private grant applications for organizations as evidenced by history of funding success.Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Office Suite, Power Point, database management and data search tools.Must have Excellent writing skills (a writing sample should be available upon request).Must have experience with growing grants programs, and the ability to research grants electronically and through print sources.Mus have proven ability to apply a strategic mindset to task, identify, and pursue new funding sources.Must have ability to coordinate, educate and assist operational managers/directors with potential grant funding opportunities and proposals.
Compensation Information: $67,800 - $84,740 (min. - mid.)
