The primary responsibility of a Safety Specialist Intern is to assist Safety Department personnel with safety and industrial hygiene responsibilities by monitoring the workplace for potentially hazardous exposures, conducting surveys, preparing samples for analysis, maintaining exposure records, and data entry.
Additional Responsibilities Schedule appointments, and travel to locations throughout the state (minimal overnight travel required) to educate, train and conduct annual respirator fit testing of employees. Maintain and update information in the SDS system, by scanning material, researching and downloading information as needed. Assist in the auditing of CDL records, chemical inventories, and other duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate must have: good organizational and communication skills ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
In addition the candidate must: Have completed their first year at a 4-year college or 2-year college (transfer program). Be pursuing a degree in a Science related field with laboratory experience (Safety, Chemistry, Biology or Medical preferred). Successfully undergo pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Housing is not provided
This position is for a Summer Internship at our headquarters located slightly west of Charleston in the city of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. This internship begins May 20, 2024. Candidate will work 40 hours per week for a period of 10-12 weeks.
