The primary responsibility of an Electrical Engineering Intern in Distribution Planning is to assist in maintaining an electrical model of the Santee Cooper distribution system by utilizing a modeling tool for electrical distribution networks that accurately represents its physical and electrical characteristics.
Additional Responsibilities Field verification of Santee Cooper's distribution feeders and database updates using "SynerGEE" distribution software. This ensures the data integrity of the electrical model upon which most Planning recommendations are made. Trained in overcurrent protection/coordination, and will perform multiple fuse coordination studies. May be asked to assist Planning engineers with various data analyses, distribution contingency studies, special case studies, as well as creating and/or updating internal documents and procedures.
The qualified candidate must be: proficient with computer fundamentals and familiar with standard desktop PC applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc)
In addition the candidate must: Have completed their first year at a 4-year college or 2-year college (transfer program). Be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at an EAC/ABET accredited school. Must have a valid driver's license. Successfully undergo pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Housing is not provided
This position is for a Summer Internship at our Horry-Georgetown office located at 305A Gardner Lacy Road, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This internship begins May 20, 2024. Candidate will work 40 hours per week for a period of 10-12 weeks.
