The primary responsibility of an Electrical Engineering Intern in Distribution Project Support is to assist in maintaining an electrical GIS model of the Santee Cooper distribution system by utilizing Esri's ArcMap and Telvent's Designer GIS software. Includes field verification of Santee Cooper's distribution facilities (poles, transformers, meter bases, streetlights, circuits, switchgears, etc.) and general GIS updates. Ensures data integrity of the electrical model upon which other units (Design, Planning, SCADA, etc) utilize for decision making.



The qualified candidate must:

  • be proficient with computer fundamentals and familiar with standard desktop PC applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc)

  • have the ability to learn GIS editing (using ArcMap) and Customer Care & Billing system (CC&B) viewing

  • have the ability to interpret Distribution electrical facility maps


  • In addition the candidate must:
  • Have completed their first year at a 4-year college or 2-year college (transfer program).

  • Be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at an EAC/ABET accredited school.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Successfully undergo pre-employment physical and drug screen.


  • This position is for a Summer Internship at our Horry-Georgetown office located at 305A Gardner Lacy Road, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  This internship begins May 20, 2024.  Candidate will work 40 hours per week for a period of 10-12 weeks.

    Salary Range
    Rising Sophomore  $23.00 per hour
    Rising Junior  $24.00 per hour
    Rising Senior  $25.00 per hour
