  • Assists in the construction, operation and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution facilities to provide reliable electric service to customers.


  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Sets and frames poles, fixtures, and distribution equipment in energized primary and secondary including three phase transformer installations. Sags de-energized primary and energized secondary conductors.
  • Terminates and splices overhead and underground primary and secondary.
  • Performs circuit voltage testing.
  • Operates and maintains bucket trucks, line trucks, backhoes, trenchers, tractors, and conductor stringing equipment.
  • Performs construction and maintenance of energized primary conductors under direct supervision of Crew Supervisor or Line Tech A.
  • Performs construction and maintenance of de-energized primary and secondary conductors without supervision.
  • Develops, demonstrates, and applies knowledge of the safety manual in all work performed.
  • Participates in all safety meetings.
  • Follows safe work methods and procedures to ensure safe job operations.
  • Conducts job site safety briefings in the absence of Crew Supervisor or Line Tech A.
  • Attends and participates in all Santee Cooper apprenticeship and mandatory training requirements each year as determined by the task manual, management and OSHA.
  • Provides training to Line Tech C's.
  • Uses communication skills to exchange information.
  • Performs essential duties to support unit operations to include general housekeeping, maintenance of fleet and warehouse stock,  upkeep and maintenance of fleets, general care of tools and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform high voltage switching on distribution and transmission lines and substations with supervision.


  • Will consider Line Technician B or C.


  • Positions will be in one of the following locations:
  • Conway
  • North Myrtle Beach
  • Myrtle Beach
  • Garden City


  • Location assignments are based on manpower needs. Candidates who are geographically flexible are preferred. You must be willing to relocate in order to meet the reporting requirements. If selected for this position, you may receive an offer of employment with a location yet to be determined. Relocation assistance is available when applicable.


  • Reporting Requirements:  
  • Report to their designated crew quarters within 30 minutes when on call.


  • Line Technician B
  • High school Diploma or GED + 2 years experience.
  • Must have CDL-Class A and pole climbing proficiency.
  • Must complete Line Tech C task manual training requirements and successful completion of Line Tech B progression test.
  • Required to work at various heights.
  • Must maintain pole top rescue re-certification annually. Therefore, maximum body weight cannot exceed the equipment rating minus the weight of associated work tools and equipment.


  • Compensation Information:
    $24.20 - $30.25 (min. - mid.)

    Line Technician C
  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • Must have CDL-Class A and pole climbing proficiency.
  • CDL-Class A driver's license and pole climbing proficiency required within six months after employment.
  • Required to work at various heights.
  • Must maintain pole top rescue re-certification annually. Therefore, maximum body weight cannot exceed the equipment rating minus the weight of associated work tools and equipment.

    Compensation Information:
    $19.70 - $24.60 (min. - mid.)
