Responsible for assisting Engineers, Technical Supervisors and Technicians in the installation, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of the following Power Delivery assets: Switchyards, control houses, power transformers, power circuit breakers, station service and instrument transformers, automatic circuit interrupters, Wellman voltage regulators, battery banks and chargers, motor operated disconnects (MOD), and metering packages. Assists with the data reviews from the MV90 system for accuracy and validity during the billing cycle. These responsibilities ensure that safe, reliable and economical power is delivered to Santee Cooper's customers with excellent customer support and environmental stewardship.
Essential Job Tasks:
Assists Substation Maintenance and Metering personnel with troubleshooting problems on the power system.Consults with manufactures and/or vendors to resolve various problems on substation equipment.Coordinates with Transmission Technical, Transmission Operations, Design Engineering, System Planning, Generation and other groups, as required, to insure that Substation Maintenance and Metering is advised of upcoming work and that construction projects, repairs, and maintenance are completed in a timely fashion. Attends Substation Maintenance and Metering staff meetings, safety meetings and various technical conferences throughout the year. Stays current on all assigned training through My Learning or instructor led classes.Assists with the oversight of all preventive maintenance and troubleshooting testing and interpreting results. Recommends proper course of action based on test results.Assists with maintaining accurate records on equipment, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance using Maximo.Helps insure that previously entered data records are accurate.Assists with support for the MV90 translation system used in the retrieval of revenue metering data from Santee Cooper's customers.Ensures the reliability and accuracy of the data for the billing department.
Will consider Engineer III, II or I.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/ university + 5 years of experience.Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is required.Must be able to enter confined space.Required to wear a respirator (SCBA, air-supplied, chemical cartridge and dusk mask).On call status and out of town, overnight travel will be required in some situations.
