This posting is for a rotation through multiple positions in various areas within Power Delivery. Candidates may rotate through any of the areas listed below and will spend 3 – 6 months in each rotation, to allow new hires the ability to learn Santee Cooper’s transmission system, day-to-day operations, and network with key personnel. Under close supervision, participants will perform engineering assignments that require knowledge and applications of basic electrical engineering principles. Candidates may be considered for placement into specific areas within Santee Cooper at any time during the rotation program period.

Candidates will be selected at job level (I or II) based upon needs in specific areas and may rotate through the various areas:

Transmission Maintenance
Responsible for providing engineering and technical support to enhance maintenance, inspection, operation, performance and reliability of the Santee Cooper high voltage transmission system.  Responsible for the design of short tap lines, line relocations, switch installations, and various other transmission line projects.  

Transmission Line Design
Develops project design for various transmission facilities under the guidance of an experienced engineer.  Assists field personnel through the construction of projects.

Substation Civil Design
Develops project designs for transmission, distribution, industrial, and generating station substation protection systems and support facilities under the guidance of an experienced engineer. Assists field personnel with the installation of specified material.

Construction Management
Provides support to the Field Inspection Unit and the Material Coordination Unit. Provides construction management services to the Engineering and Project Management department.

Project Management
Provide support for the management of the transmission line, substation, communications, SCADA and Billable/Reimbursable projects for Power Delivery. These projects begin with estimating and we follow them through initiation, design, construction, as-built and project close-out. These projects are generally complex, large scale multi-million dollar projects that can take between 1 to 4 years to complete.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college required.

  • Fundamental of Engineering license is preferred.

  • *Will consider Engineer II

    Engineer II
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college with two years of experience required.

  • Fundamental of Engineering license is preferred.

  • Compensation Information
    Salary range:
    Engineer I
    $66,460-$83,070 (min.-mid.)
    Engineer II
    $74,110-$92,630 (min.-mid.)
