Developmental role which will provide engineering and technical support for environmental compliance under general direction of unit manager. Primary job function is to manage hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and universal waste in accordance with regulations and internal procedures, plans, and computer programs. Serve as key user and subject matter expert for corporate waste management plans, procedures, and EMIS waste management software. Utilizes working knowledge of SC DHEC and US EPA federal and environmental regulations. Responsible for PCB program, chemical inventory reporting, and TRI reporting. Other responsibilities intended to promote development include supporting senior environmental management staff on projects related to air, water, and CCR compliance, as well as service on the Corporate spill team.
Essential Job Tasks:
Provides hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste management services to Santee Cooper waste generators with regard to consulting, inspections, EMIS and ECM data management, documentation, and transportation and disposal logistics. Works with EMS and TS departments to troubleshoot and enhance EMIS waste module. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and stay current and advise on pending waste regulations. Completes and submit all annual and quarterly hazardous waste reports as required. Maintains Corporate Waste Management Guidance document. Creates and maintains hazardous waste contingency plans for all applicable sites. Provides support and expertise to EMS program as requested to ensure program compliance. Conduct RCRA-related regulation reviews and summary of changes. Reviews, evaluates Management of Change (MOCs) for waste related issues for Air Quality & Management Department. Provides prompt and professional environmental services utilizing experience, job knowledge and skills associated with environmental engineering projects and RCRA compliance activities. Manages Santee Cooper's Corporate PCB program to ensure full compliance and manage PCB disposals. Conducts internal and external audits of transfer, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs) and support of Santee Cooper's internal audit department with waste audits. Evaluates need and conduct, as necessary, environmental audits of waste TSDFs. Completes chemical inventory reporting under SARA 312 (Tier II) and 313 (TRI). Supports EIA 860 and 923 reporting. Spill Response Team - Provide support as required for spill and environmental incident response (i.e., on-site investigation, documentation, reporting, cleanup/remediation guidance) for any accidental releases that affect Santee cooper directly or indirectly. Participates in 24-hour spill response availability for weekly departmental rotation. Ensures proper disposals associated with spill clean-up activities.

Bachelors Degree in in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Industrial, Civil Engineering, or related Engineering discipline from an EAC/ABET accredited University or College. Must be able to use light equipment Effective writing skills, communication skills and problem solving skills required.

Environmental regulator experience with a focus in Waste Management preferred.
