  • Responsible for directing and overseeing the management of the Transmission Line, Substation, Communications, SCADA and Billable/Reimbursable projects for Power System Engineering & Control.
  • Projects begin with estimating and followed by initiation, design, construction, as-builts and project close-out.
  • Projects are generally complex, large scale multi-million dollar projects that can take between 1 to 5 years to complete.


  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Plans, organizes, oversees, directs and administers activities of the Project Management Department which consists of project engineering, financial/budgeting functions, construction management, field inspections, and material coordination.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to a department of 7 professionals.
  • Participates in developing and selecting Transmission Planning’s capital construction budgeted project.
  • Manages capital construction budgets by monitoring and reporting, on a monthly basis, the overall and individual project spending and the projected spending for a given year.
  • Compiles the budgeted information into a spreadsheet and meet monthly with the Director of Power Systems Engineering and Control and the Director of Transmission Planning to discuss the results and strive to meet the budgeted amount.
  • Performs field visits (potential or active construction sites) to view existing conditions, view project construction progress, and to interact with field personnel.
  • Serves on various corporate committees within Santee Cooper, represent Santee Cooper at meetings with other utilities and/or government agencies and provide presentations, oral and/or written on topics related to the Project Management functions.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school with twelve years of Project Management or Utility experience in Planning, Design, Operations, Maintenance or Construction.
  • Professional Engineer registration in South Carolina required.
  • Project Management Professional (P.M.P) preferred.
  • Experience in Transmission or Distribution preferred.
  • Five years of supervisory experience preferred.


  • Compensation Information:
    $127,690-$159,610 (min.-mid.)
