  • Responsible for direction and execution of engineering projects assigned and supervises engineers and technical employees in the unit.

  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Supervises and coordinates the design and drafting efforts of the transmission line design unit to ensure that project schedules and budget constraints are met in the most effective manner possible.
  • Develops, reviews and approves various project estimates, technical specifications, drawings, requisitions, and bids to ensure quality, accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Requisitions, analyzes, and recommends material for transmission line and fiber optic projects.
  •   Ensures that each employee receives training by assigning complex assignments that stretch them to go beyond their present capabilities.
  • Ensures that employees attend appropriate seminars to enhance their development.
  • Seeks to instill an ownership mentality into each employee.
  • Coaches and influences employees in decision making concerning technical problems, budget constraints, and quality customer service.
  • Researches, investigates and evaluates new technological applications and materials to be used for the design of transmission lines and fiber optic cables.
  • Ensures standard methods, materials, practices, principles, and components are developed and used in the design and construction of transmission lines by maintaining reference materials, standard material catalog (SMC) sheets, standard specifications, etc.
  • Prepares and monitors the unit budget.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs all administrative activities for the unit.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college and ten years related utility experience required.
  • Professional Engineer registration required.
  • Human relations skills and teamwork concepts are required.
  • College courses in structural design, Geotechnical engineering and strength of materials are preferred.

    Compensation Information

    $98,720-$123,400 (min.-mid.)
