  • Studies the daily and short-term operations and develops procedures and guidelines to ensure the safest, most reliable, and most economic operation of the power system and lake system.


  • Essential Job Tasks:

  • Manages the Forecast Construction Schedule (FCS) to include understanding the scope of work per project, identifying the needed transmission outages to support the scope of work, update the FCS as needed and arrange and lead monthly construction meetings with Operations departments. Arrange meetings as needed to discuss study results within System Operations Planning as well as ECC leadership.
  • Performs the weekly switching analysis, providing recommendations to ECC management and update System Data Exchange (SDX) to reflect proposed outages to ensure compliance with applicable NERC
    Standards.
  • Performs the evaluation of seasonal operating conditions anticipated on the transmission system and develop operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Assists with the review, update and maintenance of the Power System Applications such as Real-Time
    Contingency Analysis (RTCA), Security Analysis Program (SAP), and Reactive Area Control Error (RACE) programs to ensure compliance with applicable NERC Standards.
  • Assists with preparing operator training simulation that includes the latest transmission facilities. Provides
    individual training to all System Operators utilizing EMS Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and provides evaluation of the Operator's performance to ensure compliance with applicable NERC Standards.
  • Assists with the evaluation of Santee Cooper’s interconnection facilities through joint studies with neighboring utilities.
  • Performs the evaluation of the operation of the lake system and develops recommended operating guidelines. Maintains the access spill notification database and automated notification database.
  • Generates the daily generation dispatch study and analysis.
  • Assists with the review and revisions of the operational PSSE cases for use in the AFC, NTSG, and FCS
    processes and provides weekly AFC case updates to the VACAR RC Agent.
  • Reviews the revision and development of internal procedures in order to ensure compliance with all NERC,
    SERC and VACAR procedures and requirements.

    Engineer III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college or university and two years of experience.
  • EIT/FE certification preferred.

    $79,410-$99,260 (min.-mid.)

    Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college or university required.
  • EIT/FE certification preferred.


  • Compensation Information

    $71,220-$89,020 (min.-mid.)

    Engineer I

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college or university and five years of experience.
  • FE certification preferred.


  • Compensation Information

    $63,880-$79,840 (min.-mid.)
