This position could work in project design, distribution commercial energy services or distribution design.

  • Project Design duties include designing, upgrading, inspecting, and maintaining the electrical distribution system in accordance with National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code standards to provide reliable electrical service to the customers in Horry, Georgetown and Berkeley counties in accordance with applicable company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating and directing engineering design for major construction projects.
  • Directs the work of others on projects and develops prescribed methods and standard procedures in engineering applications.
  • Responsibilities also include maintaining an accurate electronic model of the Electrical Distribution Information System (EDIS).


  • Commercial Energy Services duties include serving as the main point of contact for Santee Cooper's direct serve commercial customers and providing innovative solutions to complex customer problems.
  • Promote, implement and lead Santee Cooper's energy efficiency and customer service programs.
  • Implement and provide specialized expertise regarding numerous commercial energy services  (energy assessments, energy audits, high bill analyses and rate analyses).
  • Provide specialized technical guidance and leadership to commercial customers and to others in the Commercial Energy Services group.
  • Creatively utilize relationships with commercial customers to best meet their needs and solve their problems.
  • Actively promote environmental stewardship through day-to-day actions and across the company.
  • Adhere to all Santee Cooper safety policies and procedures while performing job duties and encourage others to do so as well.
  • Set an example to others in Commercial Energy Services by having a positive attitude while supporting the corporate vision.


  • Distribution Design duties include designing, upgrading, inspecting, and maintaining the electrical distribution system in accordance with the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code standards to provide reliable electrical service to the customers in Horry and Georgetown counties in accordance with applicable company standards, policies, and procedures and to provide supervision for subordinates performing the above tasks.
  • Responsibilities also include maintaining an accurate electronic model of the Geographic Information System (GIS).


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college with eight years of experience.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.


  • *Will consider Engineer III, Engineer II or Engineer I

    Engineer III
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college with five years of experience.
  • Fundamental of Engineering license is required.


  • Engineer II
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college with two years of experience.
  • Fundamental of Engineering license is preferred.


  • Engineer I
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college.
  • Fundamental of Engineering license is preferred.

    Salary range:

    $88,530-$110,660 (min-mid)
    Engineer III
    $79,410-$99,260 (min-mid)
    Engineer II
    $71,220-$89,020 (min-mid)
    Engineer I
    $63,880-$79,840 (min-mid)
