Line Technicians assist in the construction, operation and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution facilities to provide reliable electric service to customers.
Line Technicians must:
Demonstrate safety consciousness to work in proximity of high voltage electrical equipment.
Be mentally competent.
Able to communicate.
Able to comprehend instructions and learn from experience.
Be committed to team work and be able to work with others.
Work after-hour emergency callouts in all kinds of weather conditions.
Candidates will be considered for this and future openings. Anticipated start date for selected candidates will be on or before April 2019.
Reporting Requirements Line Technicians are required to report to their designated crew quarters within 30 minutes when on call.
Location assignments are based on manpower needs. Candidates who are geographically flexible are preferred. You must be willing to relocate in order to meet the reporting requirements. If selected for this position, you may receive an offer of employment with a location yet to be determined. Relocation assistance is available when applicable.
Positions will be in one of the following locations:
•North Myrtle Beach
•High school diploma or GED
•Course work or knowledge of electricity
•Passing Work Keys scores (3 or above) in Workplace Documents, Graphic Literacy and Workplace Observation
•Valid South Carolina driver’s license with good driving history
•Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within six months of hire
•Pole climbing proficiency within six months after employment
•Excellent physical condition

Physical Requirements and Activities:
This position involves exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects (very heavy work). Must meet minimum visual requirements for mobile equipment operators.
