The Bed Management RN/Triage RN provides overall direction, guidance, and coordination to health care providers in the achievement of timely/safe patient placements and movement. The RN is responsible for appropriate admission and placement of all patients into HUP, by evaluating appropriateness of admission and level of care for all patients and using clinical knowledge to assign the most appropriate bed to each patient. The Bed Management RN prioritizes all bed assignments by using clinical expertise and assigns Medical teams/Residents for all Medicine admissions. In the absence of the Pre-Cert RN, the Bed Management RN evaluates appropriateness of admission and level of care for all patients and can require a buy-back agreement for patients transferring from outside facilities. Additionally, the RN is responsible for facilitating inter-facility transfers through the Penn Medicine Transfer Center. The RN maintains liaisons with referring facilities, and is familiar with the UPHS clinical and strategic initiatives to triage patients to the appropriate facility.
-Must have a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree and be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
-Minimum of ten years' clinical experience
-Critical Care/ED Experience preferred
-Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all members of care team is critical
The Bed Management RN position will be rotating shifts as well as rotating weekends/holidays.
