The Gift of Life Donor Program at Penn Medicine is looking for an experienced critical care nurse to join their team full time.
This innovative, state of the art unit is the first of its kind in the Philadelphia region. Poised to open in the Spring of 2022, this new unit was designed to provide optimal care of the donor while maximizing the partnerships between Gift of Life and Penn Medicine staff. The Gift of Life Donor Program at Penn Medicine is a local resource that will benefit not only, transplant patients at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), but also, centers across the Philadelphia region, to help save lives beyond the hospital.
This is a blended role that offers a unique opportunity to work within the Gift of Life Donor Center while rotating across some of the health systems highest-acuity Intensive Care units based on and assigned by need. Clinical Nurses in the center will partner with an interdisciplinary team including intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and Gift of Life staff to provide cutting edge care to maximize the potential for organ donation.
The Clinical Nurse II is an RN that practices as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrates safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.
The Clinical Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills and the attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse II exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains. The Clinical Nurse II independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned adult patients. Additional competencies include Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.
• Must have Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, at time of hire.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience working in an ICU setting; donor management experience is a plus.
• Must possess active Pennsylvania RN License, at time of hire.
• Must possess active ACLS & BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association at time of hire.
