Position Description:
Nurse is responsible to room patient, perform electronic medication reconciliation, and weigh patients less than 18 years old. Nurse will assist Nurse Practitioner with educating patient on malaria prevention and other mosquito borne diseases, proper use of insect repellents, food and water safety, altitude sickness, and medical evacuation insurance. Nurse should be able to determine if a patient is suitable for live vaccine or immune-compromised based on medications and medical history, then notify NP. Must be competent and comfortable to prepare and administer vaccines, including reconstituting dead and live vaccines. Nurse will assist NP with returning patient calls and MPMs which may include phone triage. Nurse is responsible for administrative tasks such as preparing country travel document prior to appointments, stocking exam rooms and patient education handouts, monthly inventory of vaccines and products, monthly check of Emergency Box, and notifying NP if vaccines or products expire or need to be reordered.

The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague possesses the knowledge, skills and the attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Ambulatory Nurse II position description addendum. The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains.

The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients. Assigned patients may range in age from infancy to the elderly. The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.

The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague works closely with the inter professional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age appropriate considerations of assigned patients. The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague seeks feedback in assuming leadership roles and provides feedback for improved clinical practice. The nurse demonstrates how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and values.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Requirements: Registered Nurse with active PA state licensure. BLS/CPR required. National or specialty based certification preferred. BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing with 15 months or more of relevant professional nursing experience required.
