Position Description:
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work under the direct supervision of RNs and support numerous fast-paced, high volume areas of the hospitals and practices within UPHS by delivering high quality care to patients and families through collaboration and communication with his/her team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: taking, recording and monitoring vital signs; lifting, turning and feeding patients; providing O2 therapy and reporting acute changes in ventilation and circulation; promoting infection control and safety by maintaining a clean and safe work and patient environment; meeting patients’ personal hygiene needs and assisting with ADLs; and making beds.

Minimum Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent, graduate of a CNA program and CPR required.  Must be a certified by the State of Pennsylvania as a CNA.

Additional Information:
The Cardiology Intensive Care Unit / Progressive Care Unit is expanding in size to become a 24-bed unit in the new patient pavilion opening in the fall of 2021. Some positions are targeted for intensive care unit populations, while some positions are targetedfor progressive care populations. There will be some cross cover and training of staff for both levels of care. Recognized as a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence recipient by the AACN, the nursing team works in collaboration with many disciplines andpartners to provide exceptional care to our patients. Diagnoses range from cardiogenic shock, to lethal cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction, advanced heart failure, congenital cardiac disease, post-partum cardiac disease, pulmonary hypertension,acute coronary syndrome, and many more. We manage critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and therapy via central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters, mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacementtherapy, targeted temperature management, ventricular assist devices (VADs and Impellas), and the wide spectrum of vasoactive medications. The Cardiology ICU/PCU is predominantly a medical cardiology unit, managing patients before durable VAD implant, beforeorgan transplant and with any repeat admissions, but separate from where patients would recover after invasive cardiothoracic surgery. We also provide care for patients pre- and post-cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, and other minimallyinvasive cardiac procedures.
