Position Description:
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is looking for a Physician Assistant to work in the Operating Room of Cardiac Surgery patients, first and second assisting CVOR cases.

We provide care for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures, including heart transplants, lung transplants, adult congenital surgery, and complex aortic procedures.

The position of the advanced practice (AP) provider in the H&V SICU is that of leader, teacher, and care provider. In close partnership and collaboration with the intensivist and surgical physician groups we provide world class care to some of the most acutely ill patients in the country who are undergoing coronary revascularization, complex aortic surgery, cardiac and thoracic transplants.

Skill Requirements:  
Proficient in endoscopic harvest of saphenous vein and radial artery
Wound closure and management including application and changing of wound vac  
Sternotomy and sternal closure
Placement and removal of arterial and venous lines
Placement and management of IABP
Insertion, management and removal of chest tubes
Management and removal of temporary pacing wires
Decannulation and changes of ECMO circuits
First and second assisting CVOR cases

Minimum Requirements:
Masters Physician Assistant. Pennsylvania State license. Cardiac Surgery Operating Room experience is preferred.
