Position Description:
The Clinical Emergency Response Nurse is a critical care nurse who brings advanced clinical expertise through education and experience to the patient’s bedside. The primary function is to respond to requests for assistance from direct care givers in assessing and stabilizing a patient’s condition and organizing information to be communicated to the physicians and assist with transfer to a higher level of care as needed. They will serve as Nurse responder to all RRTs and Codes on the inpatient units and the Emergency Department, serving as a leader during events. This Nurse will support clinical staff during clinical emergencies, will identify the educational needs of clinical staff and mentor early recognition of clinical decline. This Nurse will collect data for all RRTs and Codes, contribute data for RRT / Code Dashboard, review and collaborate with the Resuscitation Committee and clinical staff to support the unit based responses to clinical emergencies. This nurse will conduct regular reviews of RRTs and Codes with clinical staff to improve organizational emergency response and to identify opportunities for improvement. This nurse will support revisions to ACLS protocols by the American Heart Association and ensure compliance with Joint Commission Standards for Resuscitation. This position is 70% clinical and 30% administrative.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing or in pursuit of a BSN

Related Work Experience
Greater than 15 months professional nursing experience

Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License (required prior to first day of hire) required

Basic Life Support Certification (required prior to first day of hire) required

National Nursing Certification preferred
