Pennsylvania Hospital is currently seeking a per diem Patient Care Tech in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The PRN Patient Care Technician delivers patient care that is patient and family centered. Incorporates team focused, collegial relationships to ensure patient safety and improve outcomes. Maintains organizational competencies of superior quality care, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability to the patient, family, self and the healthcare team. Provides superior quality care and assumes responsibility and accountability for their role in performance outcomes while supporting Pennsylvania Hospital's Relationship Based Care Model.
- The qualified candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification from AHA required.
- A Nursing Assistant Certification is required, or must be a Nursing Student with at least 1 semester rotation on a medical surgical unit.
The Post-Anesthesia Care Units at Pennsylvania Hospital are located on the 8th floor, 3rd floor and Basement of the Cathcart Building, as well as in the Short Procedure Unit on the 2nd floor of the Spruce Building. The unit is staffed Monday through Friday from 6:00 am-11:30pm with call week nights and weekends. The PACU provides fast-paced, intensive observation and care of patients who have undergone procedures that require anesthesia. Advocating for patients at their most vulnerable requires our nurses to be expert clinicians with excellent critical-thinking and communication skills. Post-anesthesia nurses are capable of making intelligent, independent decisions and initiating appropriate action as necessary. Our nurses are committed to providing high-quality, individualized patient care, while maintaining flexibility to coordinate care by various health-team members. A multidisciplinary team of RNs, Perioperative Technicians, Anesthesia, Surgical Services and Critical Care have collegial and supportive relationships to keep our patients our number one priority.
