The Emergency Department (ED) at Presbyterian Medical Center (PMC) is looking for an Advanced Practitioner (AP) to do work full time, three 12 hours rotating shifts per week. Clinical areas of care would include the fast track/mid-track areas with potential growth to the main ED at PMC, clinical areas in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s (HUP) ED, and observational patients.
The AP autonomously coordinates and implements the plan of care for fast track/mid track patients. Common patient presentations in these clinical areas at HUP and PMC include the follow: abdominal pain, wound closures, incision and drainage, ob/gyn complaints, orthopedic injuries, skin infections, upper respiratory infections, transplant patients as well as other medical/surgical conditions. The AP works independently as the primary care provider, though consultation with physician support is always available.
• Works with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care outcomes for this select group of patients. The expectation is a rotation of shifts/days, and clinical care areas between HUP and PMC.
The AP will provide safe, high quality, comprehensive care to patients in a fast paced and dynamic ED that emphasizes patient flow and throughput. The AP will complete focused history and physicals on patients, order medications, order and interpret labs, EKG/telemetry, and other diagnostic studies, as well as coordinate patient care with other disciplines.
A successful AP will have strong, independent medical decision making skills, advanced skill in multi-tasking and have the ability to adapt well to changing environments. Penn Medicine is looking for flexible, friendly and patient focused individuals to work in this large, academic teaching hospital.
