The Acute Care for Elders Unit (ACE) at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is looking for a Part Time Certified Nursing Assistant for the night shift to join their team.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work under the direct supervision of RNs and support numerous fast-paced, high volume areas of the hospitals and practices within UPHS by delivering high quality care to patients and families through collaboration and communication with his/her team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: taking, recording and monitoring vital signs; lifting, turning and feeding patients; providing O2 therapy and reporting acute changes in ventilation and circulation; promoting infection control and safety by maintaining a clean and safe work and patient environment; meeting patients’ personal hygiene needs and assisting with ADLs; and making beds.
HS Diploma or equivalent, graduate of a CNA program and CPR required. Must be a certified by the State of Pennsylvania as a CNA and have at least one year of prior experience in a hospital setting. May consider nursing students who have successfully completed a clinical rotation in their nursing program.
The Acute Care of Elders (ACE) Unit is one of the only hospital units in the country dedicated to serving the needs of the rapidly growing older adult population. As the first ACE Unit in the greater Philadelphia region, this 36 bed unit is designed specifically to accommodate the unique needs of patients over the age of 75. We focus on providing continuity of care for patients with acute illnesses while helping them maintain or regain their prior level of function before hospitalization.
The ACE Unit takes a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to acute geriatric care. A dedicated team of providers perform daily interdisciplinary rounds to ensure each patient receives 360-degrees of evaluation and care. The team is comprised of Geriatric Physicians, Nurses trained in gerontology, Social Work, Case Management, Physical, Respiratory, and Speech Therapist, as well as Nutritionist.
