The Surgical Technologist assumes the responsibility for scrub functions in the operating room. All ST entry level, Department and hospital mandatory education fulfilled. Beginning, safe practitioner. Is proactive in their approach to patient care and department operations.
•High School diploma or equivalent
•Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program
•Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the time of hire
Outpatient surgery is performed at The Surgery Center, located on the fifth floor of Penn Medicine University City.
The Center boasts six brand new operating rooms equipped with the latest surgical and video technology that enable our care teams to deliver the very best patient care. It offers many amenities such as an in-house pharmacy to fill prescriptions before discharge, convenient parking and a staff that has been trained to focus on the patient and family's needs.
The surgeons, nurses and staff of the Center are focused on providing minimally invasive orthopedic, gastrointestinal, urological, and ear, nose and throat procedures that can be appropriately managed in an outpatient facility. The surgeons are all Penn Medicine faculty who are pioneers in their fields, using the latest techniques and procedures that enable them to deliver the best results to our patients.
