Position Description:

To assist in all operational and legal aspects of player health matters, including relating to the NBA's health research programs, electronic medical records and injury analytics, sports science and wearables initiatives, cardiac and concussion programs, and health-related aspects of youth basketball development.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage various player health-related programs and processes, including league health advisory committees (cardiac, concussion, sports science, etc.)
  • Interact regularly with team player health staff (physicians, athletic trainers, etc.) and team counsel regarding player health rules and other matters
  • Draft memos to teams regarding player health and performance matters
  • Manage creation and implementation of training documents related to electronic medical records and injury surveillance and prevention efforts
  • Draft and negotiate agreements with health-related partners and vendors
  • Manage and help formulate health-related processes, including in connection with player trades and the NBA Draft
  • Conduct legal research, and provide analysis and advice on player health matters
  • Supervise health-related NBA rules enforcement
  • Provide health-related litigation support

Required Experience & Knowledge:

  • Excellent record of academic and professional achievement
  • At least2 years of experience at a law firm and/or corporate legal department; exposure to health or privacy law a plus
  • Excellent analytical, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Top-quality organizational and project management skills
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance

Educational Background Required:
•Admission to practice in the State of New York
• JD from a top tier law school
