The Assistant General Counsel Real Estate will lead MultiCare Legal Services’ support of MultiCare’s real estate related matters and real estate portfolio. This position will report to a Deputy General Counsel, and partner closely with MultiCare management as well as MultiCare’s real estate management vendors and consultants.
MultiCare Legal Services works in a distributed/remote environment. Some travel is required for team meetings and other in-person meetings. Candidates residing in the Pacific Northwest or Intermountain West regions are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a real estate attorney in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle responsibilities with minimum supervision.
Both external law firm and in-house experience preferred.
Subject matter expert in real estate leases, purchases and sales, real estate financing and related agreements, as well as familiarity with Washington state and local tax regulations related to real estate transactions.
Experience coordinating M&A due diligence activities related to real estate and construction matters.
Working knowledge of zoning and land use regulations.
Preferred experience in health care industry with working knowledge of regulations applicable to health care organizations including federal and state anti-referral regulations, FMV analysis, tax exempt bond financing issues and related regulatory compliance issues.
Ability to handle and manage a variety of internal client demands and significant number of transactions simultaneously and coordinate with internal stakeholder teams.
Strong time management, project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects / matters to closure.
Strategic thinking with an ability to leverage business sense, creative problem-solving skills and sense of prioritization when resolving issues.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school
Licensed to practice law. Successful candidates will also be required to obtain Washington State licensure within first year of employment (“House Counsel” licensure acceptable.)
