ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I, Lemelson/MIT Program (LMIT), to provide administrative and program support for the executive director and Invention Education staff of LMIT, a nationwide initiative that celebrates outstanding inventors and inspires young people to pursue creative lives and careers through invention. Responsibilities include providing general administrative support for the executive director, including scheduling, coordinating meeting logistics and conference calls, tracking data related to programmatic activity and key contacts, and assisting with the preparation of presentation materials and meeting handouts; conducting routine research, gathering and compiling data, and assisting with creating materials that support outreach to key constituents; and assisting with the development of grant applications, including tracking opportunities and deadlines and gathering application data and documents from partners. Will also support LMIT involvement in Invention Education-related meetings and conferences and provide logistical support for InvenTeams and JV InvenTeams. May need to attend meetings and/or conference calls and provide notes on proceedings and follow-up.

REQUIRED: at least two years’ program, administrative, office, or related experience; high school diploma or its equivalent; strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; ability to interact with diverse groups of people; flexibility; ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work under deadline pressure; full working knowledge of general office practices and procedures; meticulous attention to detail; good judgment with confidential information; proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook), Google Docs, Dropbox, and web searches; and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
