DEVELOPER/DESIGNER, Comparative Media Studies/Writing, to join StarLogo Nova during an exciting time of growth.  StarLogo Nova is a blocks-based programming environment designed to allow programmers of all ages and experience levels to create agent-based games and simulations for learning. Currently used by over 80,000 people and funded by recent research grants, StarLogo Nova is preparing for its most significant year of development since its 2012 release.  Will collaborate with members of the StarLogo Nova development team to design, implement, test, and fix features that meet the needs of its user community and research partners; participate in research and development team meetings and share responsibility for ensuring that overall project obligations and goals are met; and learn new skills, languages, and frameworks to support research and development goals as the needs of the projects evolve.

REQUIRED:  B.S. (master’s preferred) in computer science; strong foundation in UI/UX; ability to write, test, and debug features within the context of a medium-sized project (more code than any one person can understand fully); strong grasp of JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar language for front-end web development; and familiarity with one or more computational tools designed for use with students.  Preferred qualifications include full-stack web development experience with Django, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and one or more data frameworks (React, etc.); high-performance JavaScript and WebGL 3D rendering experience; experience with agent-based simulations, distributed systems, programming languages, compilers, and/or computer graphics; familiarity with research in the field of computer science education or experience as an educator; and experience using educational modeling software like StarLogo Nova to create scientific simulations for learning.  Job #15137
