EDITORIAL RESEARCH AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, MIT Technology Review, to support the editor-in-chief (EIC) by providing research on a variety of technological topics as preparation for speaking engagements, conferences, interviews, and other functions (approximately 50% of the employee’s time); and performing administrative tasks such as calendar management and booking travel and meetings (40%). Will also perform some newsroom administration and production duties (10%).  Responsibilities include providing current, accurate and in-depth research for speaking engagements and conference panels by the EIC or on other topics as directed; researching potential journalistic interviewees and job candidates and scheduling meetings with them; preparing briefings, slide presentations, and meeting notes for the EIC’s use; managing travel logistics, including booking travel and submitting expenses; managing the EIC’s calendar and helping make efficient use of his time; putting stories from the bimonthly print edition into the content management system for publishing on the website; and managing the logistics (calendar, videoconferencing) for daily and weekly editorial meetings. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  three years’ related experience, experience with calendar management, excellent organizational skills, strong research and written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, ability to work collaboratively and independently, comfort working with individuals at all levels of the organization, and proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar productivity software.  Administrative experience, a bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field, experience working in a newsroom, and fluency in Chinese are preferred.  Job #16752-5
