Posting Description

RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), will be responsible for coordinating research administration and financial activities for the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science. Under minimal supervision from the Senior Manager, Research Administration, and working closely with the Senior Research Administrators, the Research Administration Coordinator is responsible for a diverse range of pre-and post-award grant administration duties. This position requires interpretation and resolution of highly varied situations and problems and will provide guidance and financial support to faculty members and labs, within IMES and across other departments. This role will coordinate pre- and post-award duties for a portfolio of researchers and billing agreements, including: compiling and submitting proposals and budgets; setting up account structures at award stage; providing regular financial forecasts for PIs; monitoring and adjusting effort charges as needed; approving applicable transactions; submitting sponsor progress reports and renewal applications; and closing out accounts upon completion.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years of direct/related financial/accounting experience; knowledge of and experience with financial systems, spreadsheets, accounting tools, and general finance administration; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong attention to detail; excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills; ability to set priorities, work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, and deal with frequent interruptions; strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management. PREFERRED: Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of OSP Kuali COEUS and SAP, MIT's financial and administrative systems; knowledge of Uniform Guidance, NIH and other federal sponsor policies, and MIT policies related to finance and research administration.
