Posting Description

COMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATOR, Mechanical Engineering, contributes to and implements the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s multi-channel communications strategy including ongoing maintenance of digital communication channels. This role carries significant responsibility for content creation, social media management, internal and external e-newsletter production, internal communications, and brand consistency working with limited supervision from the Communications Manager. The position will collaborate with the Web Manager and Senior Producer/Creative Lead to ensure timely and accurate delivery of digital content and will contribute to the coordinated work of the Digital Strategy group.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or related field; minimum of three years' experience in communications, marketing, or a closely related role; strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels; experience with social media content creation, scheduling tools, and analytics platforms; experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Salesforce Marketing Cloud; demonstrated design skills and proficiency with editing and design tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva; experience with web content management systems like WordPress or Drupal; interest in understanding and implementing AI-based workflows, with appropriate safeguards/transparency, for content creation, platform engagement, and work process management; strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team; and ability to maintain confidentiality. PREFERRED: Experience working in an academic or research environment with a focus on engineering and technology; experience with HTML and CSS; photography or video production experience; familiarity with accessibility standards for digital content (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines); and experience with SEO best practices.
