Posting Description

PLANT ENGINEER, Central Utilities Plant (CUP), responsible for engineering associated with the operations and maintenance of the plant; assists in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the facility; supports Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to ensure plant compliance; project liaison for campus district energy and distribution projects, accelerated capital renewal, and major repair operations; maintains accurate and updated site engineering drawings and documentation, including standard plant policies and procedures; determines schedule, agenda, and program for annual testing and tabletop exercises, and serves as the contact for plant-specific IT systems; develops and maintains a master plan for future equipment replacement and capacity increases; and supports CUP Maintenance Team on reliability-centered maintenance approaches to plant management.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; a minimum of five years power plant experience; knowledge and understanding of power plant systems, plant engineering, and/or mechanical design of CHP facilities; demonstrated skills with plant performance improvement, environmental compliance, and safety and electrical distribution systems; knowledge of plant engineering processes; Excel skills; analytical and time management skills; ability to establish effective working relationships within and between work groups and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to foster a positive work environment and lead a group of engineers and other staff in a team-centered organization; ability to move objects weighing 20 to 100 lbs; and ability to traverse long distances or moving from site to site; ability to use arms and/or legs to push, pull and lift objects. PREFERRED: Experience in industrial engineering.
