Posting Description

MITIMCO ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, GLOBAL INVESTMENT LEGAL SERVICES (ATTORNEY), Global Investment Legal Services (GIS Legal), will focus on reviewing and negotiating investments in private funds, co-investment vehicles, operating companies, direct securities, and separately managed accounts; work closely with GIS Legal and teams across MITIMCo, including Global Investment Staff, Investment Accounting and Operations, Financial Reporting and Operational Risk, and MIT’s Office of the General Counsel; provide practical, responsive legal advice while supporting MITIMCo’s investment activities and developing collaborative relationships with internal colleagues, investment managers, outside counsel, and service providers.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: A minimum of seven years of relevant law firm or in-house experience reviewing and negotiating private fund, co-investment, and direct investment transactions; Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Massachusetts Bar; knowledge of tax and structuring considerations affecting tax-exempt institutional investors; experience using AI-enabled tools to improve legal workflows; strong judgment, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and communication skills; ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under compressed timelines, and translate complex legal analysis into clear guidance for non-legal stakeholders; collaborative, team-oriented approach and strong relationship-building skills; Microsoft Office proficiency; and ability to work from MITIMCo’s Cambridge office at least two days per week or as required by company policy. PREFERRED: Asset management, institutional investment office, nonprofit, or separately managed account experience.
