Posting Description

DIRECTOR OF ACTIVATION AND COMMUNICATION, Morningside Academy for Design, leads campus-wide engagement, communication, and network-building initiatives for DesignX. This role activates the ecosystem by fostering vibrant student and faculty engagement, amplifying program visibility and impact, and building strong internal and external networks that support innovation and venture development. Working closely with the Faculty Director, DesignX team, and MIT Morningside Academy for Design (MIT MAD) colleagues, this position creates a dynamic, connected hub that supports student journeys from exploration to venture creation, shaping DesignX's culture and influence across MIT and beyond; leads the design and execution of initiatives that activate the DesignX ecosystem across campus; creates visibility, engagement, and community among students, faculty, and labs through dynamic programming, events, workshops, and hackathons; activates physical and virtual spaces to foster collaboration, and partners with faculty, student groups, and labs to co-create programming.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: A minimum of five years of administration or operations experience and/or project/program management; Bachelor’s degree; proven experience in program activation, communications, and network building; demonstrated ability to design and execute high-impact events and engagement initiatives; track record of managing collaborative networks; exceptional project and people management skills; outstanding communication skills (verbal, writing, visual); ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and cross-functional environment; deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment; student-centered mindset; and communication, community and relationship building. PREFERRED: Experience in higher education, innovation or entrepreneurship programs; familiarity with the MIT ecosystem or similar interdisciplinary environments; experience working with student communities and early-stage ventures; and master’s degree in a relevant field.
