Posting Description

LIBRARY ASSISTANT, DELIVERY OPERATIONS AND BARKER STACKS STAFF, Libraries, (two openings) supports library delivery and collections operations through driving, paging, packing, sorting, reshelving, and environmental monitoring activities. Responsibilities include operating library vehicles, completing scheduled pickup and delivery routes, loading and unloading materials, monitoring vehicle safety and maintenance needs, and reporting transportation issues. The role also assists with collection processing, troubleshooting material-related issues, training staff and student employees, maintaining accurate workflows and statistics, supporting emergency preparedness and facilities reporting, and contributing to departmental and library-wide projects, committees, and service improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; high school diploma or equivalent; dependable attendance; a minimum of six months of related experience; demonstrated strong computer proficiency, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with flexibility and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment. PREFERRED: College degree or coursework; and experience in academic or research libraries, and service industry experience involving scheduling, time management, logistics, or route optimization.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs., pushing carts up to 150 lbs., shelving materials, and tolerating dust exposure.
