Posting Description

MEMBER RELATIONS MANAGER, Media Lab - External Relations Team, to serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of Unit consortia members (external companies) and handle a diverse set of duties on the External Relations team.  Will act as the primary liaison to member organizations and their senior leadership (CEOs, CTOs), ensuring demonstration of membership value and driving contract renewals through proactive engagement; maintain deep knowledge of faculty and student research to strategically match the Lab’s capabilities with member needs; assess organizational fit and recommend high-value collaboration opportunities; plan and execute member visits, workshops, and demonstrations; co-organize bi-annual multi-day events and design virtual engagement programs to maximize interaction between member companies and the Lab; monitor membership health through continuous tracking of interactions, collaborations, and satisfaction metrics; and analyze contract progress and provide strategic recommendations to optimize relationships.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; minimum of three years of experience in development, project management, or other related field required; ability to understand and convey complex research to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise; be comfortable with and effective at public speaking; strong organizational awareness; outstanding writing, editing, and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with visitors of any status(company, academic, diplomatic, press, VIP, etc.) in person, in writing, or via the phone; as well as the ability to work with the diverse research, staff, and student population in the Lab; demonstrated sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality; strong public speaking skills and comfort leading and facilitating discussions with diverse audiences. PREFERRED: Degree in a technical or scientific field; experience in an academic environment; and web and HTML experience.

This role requires five days a week on-site, although there can be periodic flexibility for remote work.
