Posting Description

EVENTS AND INITIATIVES MANAGER, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, performs, plans, and manages a range of events for programs that support and promote collaboration between CSAIL and its major government, industrial and foundation sponsors as well as CSAIL internal special events. This position will supervise the Events and Administration Planning Assistant in the CSAIL Director’s Office, including managing recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and performance reviews; may supervise other HQ staff members as determined by needs of the Lab; and will plan and manage CSAIL events coordinated by the CSAIL Director’s Office (DIRO) team such as Dertouzos Distinguished Lecture Series, CEO fireside chats, Hot Topics talk series, special colloquia and symposia, award celebrations, social events, memorial services, retirement celebrations, etc. This position will also manage CSAIL strategic and sponsored related events; collaborate with program faculty and staff, other MIT offices, students, outside vendors and alumni groups to successfully plan and execute technical conferences, sponsor workshops, site visits, guest lectures, and special projects;  and collaborate with CSAIL HQ staff who are involved in the execution of these events. This role will require management of logistics and operational activities for CSAIL Director’s Office led events and initiatives including any combination of administration, finance, information technology (IT), compliance, communications and outreach, and other functions.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; three years of experience in events planning and events management; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with a diverse group of colleagues, including academics, researchers, professionals, administrative and support staff, and operate office and administrative systems and applications, including typical office productivity packages, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic communication tools; ability to move objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs; and ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion.

Hybrid schedule. This role is expected to work on-site for key events and as business requires.

Travel and work nights and weekends may be required.
