Posting Description

SENIOR RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR, School of Engineering, is responsible for oversight of financial operations for the Hood Pediatric Innovation Hub, including managing budgets, aiding in the development of funding mechanisms for the RFP program, and ensuring financial compliance and efficiency throughout the project's lifecycle. The role ensures the Hood Pediatric Innovation Hub is in compliance regarding administration/financial activities; advises and educates principal investigators (PIs) and staff on all aspects of sponsored activity financial administration; coordinates with RAS on numerous subrecipient awards and manages oversight; interprets MIT policies and agreement requirements pertaining to financial oversight and implements financial policy, procedure, and process improvements; reviews and prepares financial reporting and administration; authorizes and oversees expenditures of the Hood Pediatric Innovation Hub; and coordinates internal and external audits and manages role authorizations for financial staff.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: A Bachelor’s degree and minimum of four years of progressive experience in international, industry, and other non-US Government sponsored financial administration/accounting or related field; experience in academic programs and administration, diligence, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical and communications skills; discretion and tact; ability to meet short turn-around times; proven customer service skills and ability to manage competing priorities and perform hands-on work in a team-based environment; ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management; project management and design solution skills; experience being a resource for others; strong communication, organization, and computer skills. PREFERRED: Knowledge of and experience with MIT financial systems and sponsored accounting; experience administering projects, programs or processes within MIT; experience with Cognos, or Kuali Coeus; advanced knowledge of Excel; or knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package.
