Posting Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, Tangible Media, Media Lab, to provide complex administrative support to an active research group and its senior faculty leader; independently handle multiple streams of activity while developing a strong understanding of the group’s work to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities include monitoring all financial activity for the research group, collaborating with the Media Lab financial officer to review budgets and track income and expenses, and reporting updates to the professor as needed; will process financial transactions in accordance with Media Lab policies, coordinates calendars, timelines, meetings, demos, and travel, and develops documentation for administrative procedures; responsible for high-volume correspondence; will respond to inquiries, and maintain research group databases.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High School education or equivalent; minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a creative and diverse group of people; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to handle competing priorities calmly in a fast-paced environment; sound judgment, problem-solving ability, organization, and customer service skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced proofreading ability, and comfort learning new software. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; interest in the arts and design; willingness to learn and use digital collaboration tools such as Trello, Dropbox, Craft, and Notion.

This part-time position is 30 hours per week, follows a hybrid schedule, and is offered for a one-year term with possible extension depending on funding and research progress. Applications must include a cover letter.
