Posting Description

COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE, organizes and tracks a wide range of internal and external presidential communications; assists in the preparation of basic communications and correspondence in close collaboration with the special assistant and senior communications strategist to the president and the president’s chief of staff; maintains a calendar of upcoming speaking and writing engagements; collects background material to help prepare the president for public engagements; and ensures that certain communications for the president are organized, electronically filed, and archived. In support of the president’s communications, develops and upholds strong working relationships with colleagues across the President’s Office and across the Institute as well as with external stakeholders; monitors MIT news sources and announcements to ensure that the president’s correspondence is attentive to community activities; makes certain that the president’s website remains current: posting letters to the community, speeches, photos, etc; and performs other duties and projects as requested.

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of one year of work experience in communications; exceptional communications skills: written and verbal; demonstrated discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information: strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, with some supervision, and collaborate as part of a team; be able to prioritize assignments while working in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment; excellent interpersonal, time management, planning, and project-management skills; strong listening skills; fluency with Microsoft Office. PREFERRED: Experience with Drupal.
