Posting Description
DELIVERY OPERATIONS AND BARKER STACKS MANAGER, Libraries, oversees Barker’s closed stacks collections, delivery of materials across library locations (excluding Harvard Depository), and the campus-wide book locker service. It ensures efficient, cost-effective access to physical collections by managing staff, workflows, and environments, while collaborating with leadership to improve delivery services. The position leads delivery operations, develops workflows, troubleshoots locker systems, maintains the delivery van, ensures staff compliance, coordinates with campus partners, monitors budgets, and analyzes performance data. It also maintains stacks order, supports collections projects, coordinates facilities work, and responds to emergencies. Additionally, it supervises staff and students and contributes to departmental planning, communication, and service improvements.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or related coursework; a minimum of two years of experience in library operations, including physical collections, storage environments, and supervision; strong operational expertise with a user-focused service approach and understanding of library logistics and delivery workflows; excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to coordinate across teams and locations; strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on continuous improvement; proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new tools and systems; ability to work collaboratively, manage relationships and conflict, and engage diverse stakeholders; ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and adapt to ambiguity; dependable with strong attendance; able to respond to after-hours emergencies; valid driver’s license with a good driving record; and ability to lift 40 lbs., move materials, and handle physical library tasks. PREFERRED: Knowledge of emerging service models, including book lockers; supervisory experience in a union environment; and experience with reporting tools or library systems (e.g., Alma, Primo, Cognos).
