Posting Description

RESEARCH-TO-INDUSTRY ANALYST, Materials Research Laboratory, will conduct research and analysis on MIT faculty, laboratories, and research programs to develop a comprehensive understanding of ongoing activities in materials and related fields; identify and assess industry sectors, company R&D priorities, and emerging technology trends relevant to MRL’s research areas; produce summaries, reports, and briefings that support strategic engagement with companies and assist in preparing materials for partner meetings and campus visits; collaborate with the Director and other team members to identify connections between academic research and industry needs, contributing to the development of new partnerships and initiatives through MRL’s Pilot Centers. The role also supports the creation of communication tools and informational resources to share research developments with external audiences and participates in related outreach and coordination activities.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering or science); a minimum of two years of relevant experience in research analysis, business development, or technology/innovation policy; ability to synthesize technical and market information into clear summaries and recommendations; and proficiency in conducting web-based and data research and using standard office software. PREFERRED: Familiarity with academic research environments and/or industry R&D ecosystems; advanced degree; and familiarity with LLMs and their application to data analytics.
