Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, HISTOLOGY, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Histology Core Facility, to provide technical support for wide-ranging approaches being taken in cancer research and across the MIT research community; employ both routine and specialized histology techniques; utilize both routine and specialized techniques in research area; conduct standard and/or specialized lab techniques and functions to support lab and/or research project or protocol; perform documentation of experimental protocols; perform documentation of experimental protocols. and participates in modification of protocols; work involves routine and nontraditional histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy, and special stains of animal tissue, as well as both automated and manual staining methods; troubleshoot instrumentation and ensuring inventory of appropriate lab supplies; and work in a team-oriented environment in conjunction with other facility staff.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; a minimum of two years of specialized lab experience; basic computer skills; excellent organizational, technical, interpersonal, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work; practiced documentation skills; awareness of basic safety issues and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and the flexibility necessary to work independently and provide technical guidance to students and postdoctoral fellows. PREFERRED: HT-ASCP or HTL-ASCP certification or certification-eligibility; and research experience.
