Posting Description
OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN – EYE CARE, MIT Health, assists the Optometrists and Ophthalmologists (Eye Care Providers) in obtaining clinical information from patients; performs diagnostic tests; assists with contact lens fittings and conducts patient training in insertion, removal, wearing schedule, disinfection and proper care of contact lenses; performs other tasks as specified by the ECP in providing complete and comprehensive eye care;maintains the contact lens inventory, re -ordering as supplies are required; and is responsible for ordering routine office equipment and supplies as necessary. When needed, the Optometric Technician assists the patient services representative with administrative duties.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years of experience in eye care; a current active BLS certification (with in-person component); ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment; prolonged standing and walking; good interpersonal, and diplomacy skills; professional manner with solid customer service skills; accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency in basic computer functions; and ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. PREFERRED: Certification as an optometric/ophthalmic technician. Job #24969-5
 
Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts, Mon-Fri.

Salary Range: $26.00-$28.00/hr, final salary determined by MIT’s compensation team based on the skills and experience of the person hired.
